By downloading, accessing, or using ren.ai, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The app is an interactive AI storytelling service for creating fictional characters and progressing story-driven conversations. You are responsible for how you use the app and for the content you submit.

ren.ai is provided by Ekaterina Mamontova.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. By using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or older and legally able to agree to these Terms.

We may ask you to confirm your age, rely on age signals from your distribution platform, and suspend or terminate accounts we believe belong to someone under 18. App stores may impose additional age checks or download restrictions.

Fictional AI Characters

You interact with fictional AI characters, not human conversation partners. Generated replies, narration, and images may be inaccurate, incomplete, unpredictable, or offensive and do not represent our views.

The app is entertainment, not a source of medical, legal, financial, mental health, or other professional advice. AI characters are not professionals or emergency responders.

Safety and Crisis Support

If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, stop using the app and contact local emergency services.

Our suicide and self-harm protocol uses automated moderation designed to prevent instructions or encouragement and surface crisis resources instead of continuing the story. It can fail, is not monitored in real time by a human, and does not replace professional or emergency help.

License to Use the App

These Terms govern your use of the ren.ai service. For an app downloaded through Apple's App Store, Apple's standard End User License Agreement governs the software license unless a separate custom EULA is supplied through the App Store. These Terms supplement that license and do not replace its software-license provisions.

Use the service for personal entertainment. Except where allowed by law or the applicable software license, you may not copy, reverse engineer, resell, sublicense, scrape, automate, or otherwise exploit the app or service.

The app's software, designs, assets, trademarks, and other intellectual property belong to us or the applicable rights holder.

Your Account

Keep your account information accurate and your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity through your account.

Do not share, sell, transfer, or allow another person to use your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, use the support options in the app as soon as possible.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the service, attempt to bypass safety systems, create risk for the service or others, or remain inactive for an extended period.

You can stop using the service and request account deletion through Delete Account in the app's account settings. The Privacy Policy explains the restoration period and permanent deletion. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Your Content and Generated Content

"Your Content" means content you submit to the app, including prompts, messages, character descriptions, images, settings, and story details. "Generated Content" means content produced by the app in response to Your Content.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit Your Content and to use it with the app. You retain any rights you have in Your Content.

As between you and us, you may use Generated Content for personal, lawful purposes, subject to these Terms and others' rights. Outputs may be similar or identical for different users; we do not guarantee exclusivity, originality, or copyright protection.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, modify, translate, and analyze Your Content and Generated Content as needed to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the service, and to display and distribute content you choose to publish. Personal-data processing, including AI processing and human review, is described in the Privacy Policy; this license does not replace any consent required for that processing.

Publishing Stories

When you create a story, you choose whether it is private or public.

A public story is submitted for review. If approved, it appears in discovery, where any other user can view it, start their own session with it, and generate their own content from it. Content you publish may be translated, edited for policy compliance, cached, or featured within the app.

Your account information, email address, purchase history, personal settings, and your own conversations are never shown to other users. Today, no user identity is displayed alongside a published story. If we later attach a public handle or display name to published stories, we will make that clear in the app before doing so.

Deleting a story stops it from being offered in discovery going forward. It does not delete the sessions other users have already started from it, and it does not retract copies or content already generated by other users.

Content Standards

The following are never permitted. We remove this content and terminate the accounts that create it:

sexual content involving minors or characters who appear to be minors, including depictions that present an established minor character as an adult;
sexual content depicting a real, identifiable person without that person's permission;
non-consensual sexual content presented approvingly, sexual violence presented as instruction or encouragement, incest, or bestiality;
content that sexualizes real-world abuse, trafficking, or exploitation.

You also may not use the app to create, request, upload, share, or promote content or activity that:

violates any law or regulation;
impersonates a real person or uses a real person's name, likeness, voice, or persona without permission in a deceptive, exploitative, or harmful way;
infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
contains credible threats, harassment, bullying, stalking, doxxing, hate, or abuse;
promotes terrorism, violent extremism, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, illegal drugs, fraud, or criminal activity;
includes malware, spam, scraping, automated abuse, or attempts to disrupt the service;
attempts to bypass, jailbreak, disable, probe, or exploit safety systems, rate limits, content filters, security measures, or technical restrictions;
seeks professional advice or automated decisions that could affect a person's legal rights, finances, health, safety, employment, housing, or similar interests;
is otherwise harmful, abusive, exploitative, or inappropriate for the service.

Reporting and Moderation

You can report any AI response from the response menu inside the app, including responses with excessive sexual or violent content. You can report a published story, an image, or any other concern through the contact page or at [email protected]. We review reports and act on them, ordinarily within 24 hours of receiving them.

We use automated systems, human review, and user reports to identify violations and safety risks. We do not monitor every interaction or guarantee that all harmful content will be detected.

We may remove or restrict content, limit features, suspend or terminate accounts, revoke entitlements obtained through abuse, preserve information when required, and report activity to law enforcement or other authorities where appropriate or legally required.

Advertising

The app is free to download and shows third-party ads unless you have an active subscription or ad-free day pass. Advertising data and choices are explained in the Privacy Policy.

You may choose to complete rewarded ads for additional chat messages. Spoofing, automating, or manipulating reward claims is prohibited; we may revoke abused rewards and restrict the account.

Purchases, Credits, and Subscriptions

The app offers paid features through auto-renewing subscriptions and one-time purchases. Prices, billing periods, access periods, included benefits, trial eligibility, and other purchase terms are shown at the point of purchase before you confirm.

Subscriptions. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the billing period ends. Apple charges your account at purchase confirmation and may charge for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends. Price increases are communicated in advance, with your consent obtained where Apple or applicable law requires it.

Credits. Subscription tiers include a monthly allowance of credits, which are consumed by features such as image generation, premium chat responses, and story generation. Credits are a usage allowance, not currency or a stored balance. They cannot be purchased separately, transferred, exchanged, sold, or redeemed for cash or any other value. Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and unused credits do not carry over. The number of credits included in a tier and the cost of each feature are shown in the app and may change; where a change is material we will notify you in advance.

One-time purchases. One-time purchases may include time-limited passes, such as an ad-free day pass. These purchases do not renew automatically. Benefits are provided only for the access period shown in the app and expire when that period ends.

Managing purchases. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, stop a pending renewal, or automatically create a refund; you must manage purchases through Apple. If the app offers a free trial, the trial converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. Refund requests are handled by Apple according to Apple's policies.

Nothing in these Terms removes refund or other consumer rights that apply by law.

Intellectual Property Complaints

For copyright or other rights complaints, email [email protected] identifying the work or right, where the content appears, and your contact details. Confirm that your notice is accurate and that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorized by the rights holder or law.

We remove or restrict content that we determine to be infringing, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

Service Availability and Changes

Some features require an internet connection and third-party services. You are responsible for network charges and for complying with applicable third-party terms when using those services. The Privacy Policy identifies our providers and their roles.

We may update, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We do not guarantee that the service, characters, generated content, chat history, or any particular feature will always be available or preserved.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, safety, or uninterrupted operation.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, content, subscription benefits, or account access arising from or related to the app.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to the app, are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

You and we agree that the Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app.

If you use the app as a consumer, nothing in this section removes the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, or any right you have under those rules to bring proceedings in your local courts.

General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

These Terms and the terms shown at purchase govern the service alongside the applicable software license described above. The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including content licenses already granted, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — survive termination of your account or these Terms.

We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control.

These Terms are written in English. Translations are provided for convenience; if there is a conflict, the English version controls.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page or communicated through the app where appropriate. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
