By downloading, accessing, or using ren.ai, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The app is an interactive AI storytelling service for creating fictional characters and progressing story-driven conversations. AI-generated content can be unpredictable, inaccurate, incomplete, or offensive. You are responsible for how you use the app and for the content you submit.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. By using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or older and legally able to agree to these Terms.

Fictional AI Characters

Characters in the app are fictional AI-generated experiences. They are not real people, professionals, therapists, companions, emergency responders, or representatives of the service.

You should not rely on the app for medical, legal, financial, mental health, safety, emergency, or other professional advice. If you need urgent help or believe someone may be in danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate professional.

License to Use the App

The service grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal entertainment, subject to these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, extract source code from, resell, rent, sublicense, scrape, automate, or otherwise exploit the app, models, systems, assets, or service except where allowed by law.

All trademarks, copyrights, database rights, software, designs, models, app assets, and other intellectual property rights related to the app remain owned by the service or the applicable rights holder.

Your Account

You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs through your account.

Do not share, sell, transfer, or allow another person to use your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, use the support options in the app as soon as possible.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the service, attempt to bypass safety systems, create risk for the service or others, or remain inactive for an extended period.

Your Content and Generated Content

"Your Content" means content you submit to the app, including prompts, messages, character descriptions, images, settings, and story details. "Generated Content" means content produced by the app in response to Your Content.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit Your Content and to use it with the app. You retain any rights you have in Your Content.

As between you and the service, you may use Generated Content for personal, lawful purposes, subject to these Terms and the rights of others. AI-generated content may be similar or identical for different users, and the service does not guarantee exclusivity, originality, copyrightability, factual accuracy, or fitness for any purpose.

You grant the service a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, display, modify, analyze, and otherwise use Your Content and Generated Content as needed to provide, maintain, secure, moderate, improve, and develop the app, including AI model quality and safety improvements.

Prohibited Content and Conduct

You may not use the app to create, request, upload, share, or promote content or activity that:

• violates any law or regulation;
• impersonates a real person or uses a real person’s name, likeness, voice, or persona without permission in a deceptive, exploitative, or harmful way;
• infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
• contains credible threats, harassment, bullying, stalking, doxxing, hate, or abuse;
• promotes terrorism, violent extremism, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, illegal drugs, fraud, or criminal activity;
• includes objectionable, abusive, deceptive, exploitative, or otherwise harmful material;
• includes malware, spam, scraping, automated abuse, or attempts to disrupt the service;
• attempts to bypass, jailbreak, disable, probe, or exploit safety systems, rate limits, content filters, security measures, or technical restrictions;
• seeks professional advice or automated decisions that could affect a person’s legal rights, finances, health, safety, employment, housing, or similar interests;
• is otherwise harmful, abusive, exploitative, or inappropriate for the service.

Moderation and Enforcement

The service may use automated systems, human review, user reports, and technical measures to detect policy violations, safety risks, abuse, illegal content, or service misuse.

We may remove or restrict content, limit features, suspend or terminate accounts, revoke entitlements obtained through abuse, preserve information when required, and report activity to law enforcement or other authorities where appropriate or legally required.

We are not obligated to monitor every interaction and do not guarantee that all harmful or inaccurate content will be detected.

Purchases and Subscriptions

The app may offer paid features through auto-renewing subscriptions. Prices, billing periods, included benefits, trial eligibility, and other purchase terms are shown at the point of purchase before you confirm.

Subscriptions may include monthly or annual plans, such as Pro or Max plans. Unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period, an auto-renewing subscription renews automatically. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, and Apple may charge your account for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; you must cancel through Apple. If the app offers a free trial, the trial converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. Refund requests are handled by Apple according to Apple’s policies.

Subscription benefits are provided for the billing period shown in the app and may change, renew, or end according to the subscription terms displayed at purchase and Apple’s policies.

Third-Party Services

The app relies on third-party services to operate, analyze, improve, monetize, and support the service. Depending on the features you use, these services may include:

• Apple for App Store distribution, Apple ID payments, purchase management, refunds, and Apple sign-in.
• Firebase and Google services for authentication, analytics, diagnostics, performance monitoring, remote configuration, sign-in, advertising, and server operations.
• RevenueCat for purchase and subscription entitlement management.
• Expo for app build, update, and delivery tooling.
• Sentry for error monitoring and diagnostics.
• Slack for support and inquiry notifications.
• AI and image-generation providers, including OpenAI, Google AI, xAI, OpenRouter, DeepInfra, fal, and Runware, to process prompts, context, images, and generated outputs on our behalf.
• Cloudflare R2 or compatible storage infrastructure for file storage and delivery.

Third-party services may have their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

Service Availability and Changes

Some features require an internet connection. You are responsible for your device, network, data charges, and any third-party fees.

We may update, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We do not guarantee that the service, characters, generated content, chat history, or any particular feature will always be available or preserved.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, safety, or uninterrupted operation.

AI-generated content does not reflect the views of the service. You may encounter content that is unexpected, inaccurate, objectionable, or inconsistent with your intent.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, content, subscription benefits, or account access arising from or related to the app.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page or communicated through the app where appropriate. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
