ren.ai is an interactive AI storytelling app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, retained, and protected when you use the app.
By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use the app.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has provided personal information or is using the app, we may delete the information, restrict access, or take other appropriate action.
Information We Collect
We may collect information you provide directly, including:
- account information, such as email address, login identifiers, and authentication details;
- profile, preference, and settings information;
- character names, descriptions, images, traits, relationship settings, story settings, and other creative inputs;
- chat messages, prompts, replies, story content, generated content, image-generation preferences, and conversation history;
- purchase, subscription, entitlement, usage allowance, and transaction status;
- support requests, reports, feedback, and related communications.
We may also collect information automatically, including:
- device type, operating system, app version, language, region, and identifiers;
- log data, diagnostics, crash reports, performance data, and error information;
- usage events, feature interactions, session information, approximate timestamps, and safety or abuse signals;
- network, security, fraud-prevention, and rate-limit information.
AI Processing
The app processes your prompts, character settings, images, story content, and chat history so it can generate replies, preserve context, personalize scenes, and continue your story.
AI systems and service providers may process this content on our behalf. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, unexpected, or objectionable. Do not submit information that you do not want processed by the app or its service providers.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide, personalize, and maintain the app;
- generate AI replies, images, character behavior, and story continuity;
- manage accounts, purchases, subscriptions, usage allowances, and entitlements;
- provide customer support and respond to reports or requests;
- detect, prevent, investigate, and address abuse, fraud, policy violations, illegal content, security incidents, and safety risks;
- moderate content using automated systems, human review, and user reports;
- debug, analyze, measure, and improve app performance, reliability, and user experience;
- develop and improve AI model behavior, safety systems, quality, and product features;
- communicate service updates, policy changes, security notices, and support messages;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Where practical, we remove or reduce direct identifiers before using conversation data for analytics, model-quality, or safety-improvement purposes. However, chat and character content may still contain personal information if you include it.
Human Review and Moderation
The app is a private-feeling chat experience, but it is not a guarantee that every interaction is visible only to you. We may review content when needed to operate the service, investigate reports, enforce policies, debug issues, improve safety, comply with law, or protect users and the service.
We may use automated tools to classify content, detect abuse, enforce safety rules, and identify restricted, harmful, fraudulent, or harassing activity.
Information Sharing
We may share information with:
- service providers that host, process, secure, analyze, support, or improve the app;
- AI infrastructure and model providers that process prompts, context, images, or generated outputs on our behalf;
- analytics, crash-reporting, attribution, subscription, payment, and customer-support providers;
- app stores and payment platforms for purchases, refunds, subscription management, and entitlement verification;
- law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when required by law or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, users, or the service;
- successors or parties involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising where prohibited by applicable law.
Third-Party Services
The app uses third-party services that may collect information under their own policies. These may include:
- Apple for App Store distribution, Apple ID payments, purchase management, refunds, and Apple sign-in.
- Firebase and Google services for authentication, analytics, diagnostics, performance monitoring, remote configuration, sign-in, advertising, and server operations.
- RevenueCat for purchase and subscription entitlement management.
- Expo for app build, update, and delivery tooling.
- Sentry for error monitoring and diagnostics.
- Slack for support and inquiry notifications.
- AI and image-generation providers, including OpenAI, Google AI, xAI, OpenRouter, DeepInfra, fal, and Runware, to process prompts, context, images, and generated outputs on our behalf.
- Cloudflare R2 or compatible storage infrastructure for file storage and delivery.
Purchases and subscriptions are handled through the App Store. Apple may process payment, subscription, refund, and account information according to Apple’s policies. The app receives purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock paid features.
Sensitive Information
The app is designed for fictional character-based storytelling. You should avoid submitting sensitive personal information, including government identifiers, financial information, health information, precise location, passwords, or information about other people without permission.
If you choose to include sensitive information in chats, prompts, images, or character settings, that information may be processed as described in this Privacy Policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain accounts, preserve story continuity, process purchases, provide support, improve safety, comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
If you delete or deactivate your account, the app retains associated personal data for up to 90 days so you can restore your account and so we can resolve billing, support, safety, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention, or operational issues. After that period, we delete or anonymize the data unless a legal obligation, security need, dispute, investigation, or active entitlement issue requires longer retention.
Backups and logs may persist for a limited period before deletion. Some information may be retained in de-identified, aggregated, or anonymized form.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information.
You can manage some account information and app settings inside the app. For other privacy requests, use the support options available in the app. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
International Processing
The app and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
